Miller endorses Jeffrey Jarman
I was grateful to the many people who endorsed me to be the next representative for State Board of Education 10. Unfortunately, I did not win. Even though I am a life-long Republican, the current Republican candidate primary winner is not the best choice and does not represent the views of common sense Kansans. I am therefore making an unprecedented move and endorsing the Democrat candidate I had hoped to emerge victorious against in the November election.
If we value our communities, our education system (both public and private), and special education, then there is only one person that we should be voting for in Kansas BOE District 10. Although Jeff Jarman and I may not agree on everything, the former Maize USD 266 board president is well qualified for this position and will serve all constituents well. I encourage all common sense Eisenhower Republicans and Independents to join the 7000 people who voted for me in August by voting person over party.
Vote Jeffrey Jarman for KSBOE10.

A short 2 minute video to discover who Marvin Miller is and why he is running for State Board of Ed 10.
Marvin Miller for State Board of Ed 10 (R)
As a former business person, pastor, and school administrator, I've learned the most about education as parent of a daughter significantly impacted by Down Syndrome while navigating 4 different school systems along the way.
As a classroom teacher and a special needs parent, I have seen the struggles public schools face today. I've witnessed that impact on facilities, teachers, students, and families. My conversations happen not just at school and sporting events, but at churches, at the grocery store, and in the community.
I've worked with the state board on policies that help students with disabilities -- and want to continue to be that voice for all. Great education is the foundation for strong communities and local economic growth.
With your support, together we can make Kansas the greatest place for a each student to thrive and succeed. Thank you for your support and your vote.
EXPERIENCED SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Since first taking special education coursework in 2003, I have worked with students K-12 with every type of disability in every type of setting. I currently serve students in high school as they transition to either competitive integrated employment or day service programs. I enjoy being part of the South Central Kansas Transition Council as we help students and families navigate what comes after graduation.
In 2024, I was recognized as the KASEA Special Education Professional of the Year!
This video does NOT represent a political endorsement from USA-Kansas or KASEA -
it is merely a reflection of his many contributions to the education of EACH child in Kansas.

PARENT OF ADULT DAUGHTER WITH DOWN SYNDROME
My daughter is my "WHY." As a parent of a child with a disability, I have learned that many systems are not designed to fully support students who need special education. My experience as a special needs parent allows me to see all areas in education that can be made greater.
Engaged parents make a good school system great. In 2021, I created a USD 261 Haysville district wide monthly program -- Parents Helping Parents. My work in helping establish the South Central Kansas Transition Council was motivated by providing parents and teachers additional resources to create meaningful engagement for their student's education.
FORMER CHAIR, KANSAS SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COUNCIL
Since 2014, I have served on KSDE SEAC - examining policies and making recommendations to the State Board of Education on how to make students safer, addressing special education teacher shortages, creating better transition systems, and examining standards in order to make sure that Kansas has the best special education system in the country. During that time, I have worked closely with several state board members, including Jim Porter (R-Fredonia) and Jim McNiece (R-Wichita).

State Board of Education Member
"I have known and been impressed with Marvin Miller for about a decade. He is a proven powerful advocate for the children of Kansas and would be a very valuable member of the Kansas State Board of Education." -- Jim Porter
COMMUNITY BUILDER
Observing Marvin Miller for over a decade as an educator in various forms, I have noticed his drive to give every child a chance to be educated in whatever way they need. He believes in the education of EVERY child. Being an adoptive parent with kids fighting through hard things, I know that they will have a State Board of Education member fighting for them.

ORDAINED CHAPLAIN
Preaching the Wellington Ministerial Alliance Baccalaureate Sermon at Wellington First Assembly for the Wellington Crusader Class of 2017.
Over the decades, I have also served in active ministry in the Assemblies of God as a college chaplain, hospital chaplain, ACSI Christian school administrator, and church pastor. I have served congregations in Wichita, Wellington, Pratt, and Newton. Over the years my focus has shifted toward disability theology and ministry. Currently, I still pulpit supply on occasion, and lead a nursing home service several times a month. From 2008-2015, I served on the board and then was treasurer for Friendship Ministries -- an international disability ministry program founded by the Prince Foundation and the Devos Family, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI.
